Lahore Alumni Celebrate Pakistan Day with Bhangra-style Flash Mob

On March 23, Consulate General Lahore joined forces with the Punjab chapter of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) for a bhangra-style flash mob at Lahore fort.  The event kicekd off a workshop on cultural awareness in honor of Pakistan Day.

Four American officers, 30 exchange program alumni, and 150 Pakistani students performed a choreographed routine in South Asian dance styles with the Lahore Fort’s soaring Alamgiri gate as a backdrop.  Participants wore a combination of colorful tranditional Pakistani clothes and Alumni t-shirts.

After the performance, participants enjoyed a tour of the fort and attended a workshop titled “Save the Heritage Society,” that was conducted by International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumnus Dr. Shahbaz Khan, the winner of the State Department’s 2012 Alumni Grant competition and co-organizer of the event
