Three alumni artists, and their mentor Jamal Shah, discussed their U.S. exchange experience on Sultan Hali’s Defense and Diplomacy talk show, which aired on PTV Dec. 5. The alumni shared the overwhelmingly positive American response to their artwork featured in the “Pakistani Voices” exhibit currently on view at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., and highlighted the many connections they made to U.S. artists, curators and NGOs during their exchange. Several of the artists said their U.S. experience gave them the tools and knowledge to initiate community art projects back in Pakistan, which they plan to carry out in coming months. They also cited the power of art to spread a message of unity amongst Pakistan’s diverse, ethnic populations.
