Fatimah Bibi, Global Ugrad alumna and founder of Ad Guru Marketing, embarked on an ambitious project to empower young women in South Punjab with digital entrepreneurship skills. The project, supported by the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) Alumni Small Grant (ASG) program, aimed to equip over 1,000 women with the tools and knowledge to establish their own online businesses, fostering economic development and promoting gender equality in the region.
Project Impact
The project successfully trained 1,100 young women, providing them with comprehensive training in digital marketing skills, including Facebook Ads, Google Ads, SEO, and Web Development. Additionally, the project focused on enhancing proficiency in AI tools and facilitating international communication and networking, particularly with the USA. This comprehensive approach empowered the participants to not only start their own online businesses but also expand their clientele beyond geographical boundaries.
Economic Empowerment and Cross-Cultural Connections
The project’s impact extended beyond digital skills training. It ignited a sense of empowerment and self-reliance among the participants, many of whom were previously confined by socio-cultural norms. These women gained the confidence to contribute economically to their households, breaking traditional barriers and becoming role models for others in their communities.
Furthermore, the project bridged a crucial gap by facilitating communication with international clients, particularly from the USA. This not only expanded the participants’ professional horizons but also fostered cross-cultural exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding and respect. The entrepreneurial spirit instilled in these women led to the creation of numerous online businesses, directly contributing to the region’s economic growth.
Beneficiary Testimonials
The project’s impact is evident in the testimonies of its beneficiaries. Esha Eman, a 20-year-old participant from Multan, expressed her gratitude for the workshops, stating, “I am planning to start an embroidery business online. Now, thanks to these workshops, I can set it up on social platforms, optimize it, and conduct keyword research tailored to my area. I’ve also learned strategies to find customers online without leaving my home. Thanks to every team member who made this project possible.”
Hafsa Balqees, a 23-year-old participant from Rajanpur, shared her aspirations, saying, “I would like to improve my financial status by working online in some digital skills like Google ads and content marketing. Thanks to the PUAN for creating this opportunity.”
A Collaborative Effort
Fatimah Bibi expressed her appreciation for the collaboration with the U.S. Mission and PUAN in implementing this project. She highlighted the support and guidance provided by both entities, which were instrumental in bridging the gap between the project’s vision and its execution. PUAN’s emphasis on community development and empowerment resonated deeply with the project’s objectives, and their grant program ensured the availability of necessary resources and framework.
