Five-Day Master Class on Leveraging Analytics, AI and Data Sciences Concludes
Funded by U.S. Mission to Pakistan, the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network’s five day Master class on ‘Leveraging Analytics, AI, and Data Sciences‘ from July 8-12 has successfully concluded in partnership with NUST, Islamabad. The masterclass featured a diverse group of dozens of alumni from diverse backgrounds. It was a five-day comprehensive training featuring interactive lectures by sectoral experts followed an interactive mode of learning with case studies centered around various sub-themes, group discussions and presentations. On day 1, the participants explored how secure cyber policies and practices can promote entrepreneurship (ft. Food Panda case study). On day 2, the participants delved into cybersecurity and data protection with practical applications. On day 3, the group, demystified Artificial Intelligence and its impact on tech businesses. On day 4, they learned about data science and analytics to gain valuable business insights. An last but not the least, on day 5, the participants attended a captivating panel discussion on harnessing AI, data analytics & data science for innovation and transformation.
PUAN KP Chapter Reunions at Batakundi, Naran and Peshawar Conclude
PUAN KP Chapter concluded its two reunions over the past weekend. One of three days at Batakundi,Naran and other one at Peshawar. Around 400 alumni from various walks of life representing diverse exchange programs participated in these meet-up. Consul General Shante Moore met with senior members of the chapter in the one held at Peshawar. The annual reunions of KP chapter gave the alumni the opportunity to network and brainstorm new ideas along with catching up over fancy feasts.
Beyond the Blackboard: Cultivating Leaders, Empowering Students in Turbat
Zeenat! A bright-eyed teacher in a small, remote school nestled in the rugged landscape of Turbat, Pakistan. Every day, she pours her heart into educating young minds, but a nagging worry persists. How can she become a better leader, not just for her students, but for the entire school community? She craves professional development opportunities, but in her corner of the world, such resources seem like a distant dream. This was the reality for many dedicated educators in Turbat until Shazia Akthar Baloch, fueled by a passion for education, entered the scene. As a 2017 TEA-Evolution alumna and a veteran of community development initiatives, Shazia understood the challenges faced by these rural teachers. With a determined glint in her eye, she started her mission to transform not just classrooms, but the lives of countless students – and it all started with Zeenat, and teachers like her. SheLeads: Weaving a Future for Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan’s NMDs
A region brimming with hidden talent, where women want to become financially independent and nurture dreams of starting businesses but lack the platform to take flight. This is the reality of many rural areas of Pakistan in general and newly merged districts (NMDs) in particular. NMDs are a region marred by economic hardshipa and limited opportunities. However, amidst these challenges, the SheLeads project under Alumni Small Grant (ASG) spearheaded by Roohullah Khalil, a passionate PUAN alumnus, came out as a breath of fresh air. The project was funded U.S. Mission to Pakistan in partnership with Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN). Localizing Democracy: Empowering Youth and Leaders in Pakistan
Growing up in a region where democracy felt distant, Haris Khan, an alumnus of the English Works program (2021), decided to take action. Witnessing the impact of disengaged youth and a lack of strong democratic structures made him take charge of things with the help of Alumni Small Grant (ASG) program supported by U.S. Mission in Pakistan in partnership with Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN). Haris’s ASG project, titled “Localizing Democracy,” aimed to empower both young people and local leaders. The project consisted of three key components: Educate, Equip, and Engage.
