Applications Open for PUAN National Internship Program 2026

The Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), in collaboration with the U.S. Mission in Pakistan and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, is pleased to announce the launch of the PUAN National Internship Program 2026. This in person program will take place from June 1 to August 31, 2026, and aims to provide young alumni with meaningful professional experience and guidance at an important stage in their careers. Please note that this opportunity is for registered members of PUAN only.

With a growing network of more than 45,000 alumni across the country, PUAN continues to create opportunities that connect learning with real world impact. This internship program is another step in that direction, bringing together experienced alumni and emerging professionals in a structured and supportive environment.

Learning Through Mentorship

This year, 40 senior PUAN alumni will mentor 40 junior members. Each intern will work closely with a mentor who will guide them through practical assignments, share professional insights, and help them understand workplace expectations.

Interns will be expected to commit full time for a period of three months. In return, they will receive hands on experience and consistent support from mentors who are volunteering their time and expertise.

To help manage daily expenses, PUAN will provide selected interns with a monthly stipend of Rs 35,000, which can be used for food, transportation, and communication.

Focus on Key Sectors

The program places strong emphasis on sectors that align with the economic priorities of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan. These include trade and commercial engagement, critical minerals and energy, technology and digital innovation, as well as entrepreneurship and business development.

Where possible, interns will be placed with organizations that offer exposure to international standards and professional environments. This includes U.S. affiliated companies, firms operating in Pakistan with US connections, and innovation focused organizations in the private sector.

These placements are designed to help interns develop practical skills while also understanding global workplace practices.

Who Can Apply

The internship is open to registered PUAN alumni only who have not previously participated as interns. Alumni who have served as mentors may apply again after three years.

Applicants should be current undergraduate students at local universities or recent graduates within the past year who are actively seeking employment.

All applications will be reviewed through a merit based process. Given the limited number of placements, only 40 interns will be selected from across PUAN’s 14 chapters. Both mentors and interns must be based in the same city where the internship takes place.

Interns will need to manage their own accommodation and travel, as these costs are not covered by PUAN.

A Step Toward Career Growth

For many young graduates, entering the job market can be challenging. This program offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience, build confidence, and expand professional networks.

In previous years, several interns have gone on to secure full time positions after completing the program, showing the long term value of this experience.

Important Dates

Applications open on April 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM and close on April 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The internship will run from June 1 to August 31, 2026.

A Facebook Live information session will be held on April 8, 2026 for those who would like to learn more about the program and application process.
