In the heart of Choti Zaireen, a remote region in southern Punjab, Pakistan, something remarkable was happening. Nabila Abbas, a native of Dera Ghazi Khan, was leading a groundbreaking project from September 1st to September 5th, 2023.
Nabila Abbas, our English Access alumna, successfully implemented her project titled “Digital Inclusion: Empowering Rural Communities with latest Digital Skills (Graphic Designing),”with the supported of Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) under the Alumni Small Grants program.
The project was aimed at providing training and exposure to the youth of Choti Zaireen, situated within the jurisdiction of DGK in the southern Punjab province, and predominantly faces economic hardships and underprivileged conditions.
Over five days, 37 participants, 21 girls and 16 boys, eagerly joined the workshop, gaining valuable skills in graphic design. The success of the project highlighted the urgent need for similar opportunities in remote areas. It uncovered hidden talents among rural youth, often constrained by limited access to training.
The project’s impact extended beyond the workshop. All participants enrolled in free online courses, opening doors to a brighter future. Nabila’s journey was a beacon of hope, showing that with dedication and opportunity, dreams could become a reality in even the most underprivileged communities.
Let’s celebrate Nabila and the positive change she’s making in Choti Zaireen! 🙌 #Empowerment #DigitalInclusion #CommunityChange #PakistanPride
