Empowering Minds: US-Exchange Program Opportunities Awareness Workshop in Larkana

The Pak-US Alumni Network (PUAN) Sukkur Chapter organized a one-day awareness workshop on US-Exchange Programs Opportunities in collaboration with Lincoln Corner Larkana on August 3, 2023. The workshop was attended by over 50 participants, including PUAN members from various exchange and in-country programs residing in Larkana, as well as non-alumni students from different educational institutions. The primary goal of the workshop was to provide participants with information about different exchange opportunities in the United States and in-country programs, enabling them to make the most of these opportunities.

The event commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Muhammad Sario, the Coordinator of Lincoln Corner – Larkana, who expressed gratitude to the PUAN Sukkur leadership for organizing this enlightening program for students. He also highlighted the free-of-cost facilitation provided by Lincoln Corner to all students.

Mr. Muhammad Umar, also known as Omar Gul Buriro, an Exchange Ambassador from the PUAN Sukkur Chapter, delivered a comprehensive presentation on major exchange programs. These programs included YES, TECH-Girl, SUSI, SISTER2SISTER, GLOBAL UGRAD, WOMEN-2-WOMEN, FULBRIGHT, and others. Mr. Umar detailed the criteria for each program and emphasized the vital role played by the United States Educational Foundation Pakistan (USEFP) in Pakistan. USEFP was recognized for providing an informative platform and advisory assistance to students interested in applying for different exchange programs. Additionally, an introduction to (RELO) programs was provided.

Dr. Aisha Memon, an alumna of the UGRAD program, shared her personal experience with the participants, shedding light on the benefits and impact of exchange programs.

Mr. Irfan Meer Soomro, the President of the PUAN Sukkur Chapter, expressed gratitude to all the attendees for actively participating in the informative sessions. He highlighted the objectives of PUAN and the significant contributions of the chapter’s leadership, concluding with a vote of thanks.

The workshop concluded with several students expressing their interest in various exchange programs. They posed numerous questions related to different programs, aiming to gain a deeper understanding and capitalize on the available opportunities. The event successfully achieved its goal of raising awareness about US-Exchange Programs and encouraging participants to explore these enriching experiences.
