Aisha Lareb, a proud alumna of the PUAN Sukkur chapter, is making a difference in the lives of women in her community through her impactful work with the initiative “Empower Health” under her Alumni Small Grant (ASG). This program focuses on improving women’s sexual and reproductive health (SRH) by providing them with the knowledge and awareness they need to make informed choices about their well-being.
Empower Health tackles essential topics like menstrual hygiene, breast cancer prevention, and informed family planning through targeted, face-to-face campaigns in underserved communities. These educational sessions aim to spark open conversations, dispel myths, and provide accurate information, ultimately empowering women to take charge of their health.
Bringing vital knowledge to an underserved community:
Aisha’s recent sessions highlight the program’s significant impact. Her team conducted an SRH session in Brohi Muhalla, Kamber, an area primarily populated by illiterate women. The immense crowd attending the session is a testament to the community’s need for such crucial information.
Distributing menstrual kits and fostering self-care:
Empower Health goes beyond just providing knowledge. The program distributed menstrual kits to the women, promoting proper hygiene practices and menstrual health awareness. This seemingly simple act can have a transformative impact on women’s lives, ensuring their dignity and well-being during their menstrual cycles.
Long-lasting impact and positive change:
Aisha firmly believes that the impact of these sessions will be long-lasting. By providing essential information to a community lacking access to formal education and basic healthcare facilities, Empower Health is empowering women to take charge of their health and well-being.
The program’s focus on educating teenagers, married individuals, pregnant women, and even those experiencing menopause ensures that no woman is left behind. By addressing puberty signs, breast cancer awareness, and self-care practices related to reproductive health, Empower Health is fostering positive changes in attitudes and behaviors within the community.
Aisha Lareb’s initative is a powerful example of how PUAN alumni are making a real difference in their communities. Through her dedication and passion, she is empowering women in her community to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
