On May 2, University of Peshawar’s Lincoln Corner hosted a mock election to familiarize young voters with the upcoming elections. The KP Chapter of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) organized the event for local youth, who learned more about democracy, political campaigning, and the role of government.
On May 17, as part of a series of events about the elections, the KP chapter hosted a discussion about the May 11 national election. Dr. Hussein Shaheed Soharwardi, an IVLP alumnus, shared with the audience background information about different types of democracy, how democracy flourishes, and factors that contributed to high voter turnout in Pakistan’s election. The session was informative for young students who will play an important role in society as responsible citizens.
