The Lahore Chapter of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) organized a seminar Oct. 26 on the “Revival of Pakistani Cinema and Film Industry” at the Pakistan College of Law. A large number of university students and U.S. exchange alumni attended the event.
Top Pakistani film producers Syed Noor and Shahzad Rafiq spoke about the film industry in the country, while Fulbright alumna Wajiha Raza Rizvi shared her research on the evolution, development, and gradual decline of Pakistani films, highlighting the various elements responsible for the current state of the film industry.
Citing the recent success of a few local films and the potential of some cinematic projects currently underway, all speakers expressed their hopes about the re-emergence of the cinema in Pakistan.
