PUAN Talks: Session on Black Lives Matter

Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) in collaboration with the U.S. Mission in Pakistan, alumni community and sectoral experts has initiated a virtual series of sessions titled ‘PUAN Talks’ by keeping in view the interests of wider audiences. Under its series of #PUANTalks, PUAN conducted a virtual session titled, “Black Lives Matter” on Thursday, September 03, 2020 at 04:00 PM via Facebook live.

Panelists for the session included:

● Keome R Rowe, Public Diplomacy Officer, U.S. Embassy, Islamabad

● Cameron Thomas Shah, Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Karachi

● Shahzad Ghias, Fulbright alumnus, PUAN Karachi Chapter, Writer, Trainer & Stand-up Comedian

Watch-out the recording to explore the power of democratic institutions and process in the U.S. and correct global misunderstandings about African Americans. The panelists also described why the protests were happening and how politicians and the private sector were getting involved in them. The session also related the struggle of African Americans in the U.S. to the struggle of minorities in Pakistan.
