It also provides a comprehensive overview of the program’s purpose, key objectives, and what selected participants can expect.

PUAN National Internship Program 2026: Background

The Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), in collaboration with the U.S. Mission in Pakistan and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), is currently accepting applications for the PUAN National Internship Program 2026.

This in-person program will run from June 1 to August 31, 2026, and is designed to provide young alumni with meaningful professional experience and mentorship at a critical stage in their careers. The opportunity is open exclusively to registered PUAN members.

With a network of over 45,000 alumni nationwide, PUAN continues to create pathways that connect learning with impact. This internship program reflects that commitment by bringing together experienced professionals and emerging talent in a structured and supportive environment.

Learning Through Mentorship

This year, 40 senior PUAN alumni will mentor 40 junior members, fostering a one-on-one learning experience. Interns will engage in practical assignments, receive professional guidance, and develop a clear understanding of workplace expectations.

The internship requires a full-time, three-month commitment, during which participants will benefit from continuous mentorship and support.

To assist with daily expenses, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of PKR 35,000, covering basic costs such as transportation, meals, and communication.

Focus on Priority Sectors

The program emphasizes sectors aligned with the economic priorities of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan, including:

  • Trade and commercial engagement
  • Critical minerals and energy
  • Technology and digital innovation
  • Entrepreneurship and business development

Where possible, interns will be placed with organizations that offer exposure to international standards, including U.S.-affiliated companies, firms with U.S. linkages, and innovation-driven private sector organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to registered PUAN alumni who:

  • Have not previously participated as interns
  • Are current undergraduate students or recent graduates (within the past year)
  • Are actively seeking professional opportunities

Alumni who have previously served as mentors may reapply after three years.

Selection is merit-based, with only 40 internship placements available across PUAN’s 14 chapters. Both mentors and interns must be based in the same city. Please note that accommodation and travel costs are not covered.

A Step Toward Career Growth

For many young professionals, transitioning into the job market can be challenging. This program offers a strong foundation by helping participants gain practical experience, build confidence, and expand their professional networks.

In previous cycles, several interns have successfully transitioned into full-time roles, demonstrating the long-term impact of this initiative.l
