Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain, founder of Imtiaz Enterprises, is proving that Pakistan’s agricultural sector can compete on the global stage when tradition is combined with innovation, quality, and international collaboration. A member of the Pakistan–U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) Karachi Chapter, Shaikh Imtiaz participated in the U.S. Department of State-supported Exposure and Study Tour on Cold Storage and Transportation in 2016, an experience that strengthened his vision of connecting Pakistan’s agricultural producers with international markets.
Raised in a family engaged in Karachi’s wholesale fruit and vegetable trade, Shaikh Imtiaz developed an appreciation for entrepreneurship at an early age. Working alongside his family, he learned that trust, integrity, and long-term relationships are the foundation of successful business. At the same time, he recognized an untapped opportunity: Pakistan possessed world-class agricultural products, but many producers lacked the systems, technology, and market access needed to compete globally.
Driven by this vision, he transformed the family’s traditional wholesale business into Imtiaz Enterprises, an export-focused company that now supplies premium Pakistani fruits and vegetables to international markets. The transition required mastering global food safety standards, cold-chain logistics, quality assurance, packaging, and international trade regulations. Through continuous learning, investment in modern practices, and strong partnerships with buyers around the world, he successfully positioned Pakistani produce in highly competitive export markets.
His commitment to excellence has earned widespread recognition. Over the years, Shaikh Imtiaz has received numerous national and international honors, including the FPCCI Best Export Performance Award, Top Exporter Award and Gold Medal, Global Food Safety Award, Brand of the Year Award, and the Pakistan Intellectual Property Excellence Award. Beyond business, he has served in leadership positions across several trade and business organizations, including as President of the America Pakistan Business Development Forum (AMPAK-BDF), President of the Pakistan Agriculture & Horticulture Forum (PAHF), Chairman of the FPCCI USA Business Council, and Deputy Governor of Rotary International (District 3271), reflecting his commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s business ecosystem and international partnerships.
A recent milestone in his entrepreneurial journey came through participation in the PUAN Masterclass 2026: Mastering the Business Life Cycle, organized by the Pakistan–U.S. Alumni Network with support from the U.S. Mission to Pakistan. The program reinforced the importance of digital transformation, export readiness, and innovation in today’s global economy.
“The Masterclass reaffirmed that technology is no longer an option, it is essential for global competitiveness,” says Shaikh Imtiaz. “Digital marketing, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and data-driven decision-making are opening entirely new opportunities for Pakistani exporters to reach international buyers more efficiently and strategically.”
Building on these insights, he plans to expand beyond exporting fresh produce by investing in value-added food processing, modern packaging, and product development. He also aims to integrate artificial intelligence for demand forecasting, strengthen digital marketing strategies, optimize supply chains, and leverage e-commerce platforms to expand exports, particularly to the United States and other high-value international markets.
For Shaikh Imtiaz, success is measured not only by business growth but by the opportunities created for others. He believes entrepreneurship should improve livelihoods for farmers, generate employment, encourage innovation, and strengthen Pakistan’s position in global trade. By promoting sustainable agriculture, investing in modern technologies, and building stronger international partnerships, he hopes to contribute to a more resilient and inclusive economy.
