PUAN Conference on ‘Promoting Social Entrepreneurship in Pakistan’ Concludes in Islamabad

The two-day conference on ‘Promoting Social Entrepreneurship in Pakistan,’ organized by Accountability Lab Pakistan with the support of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan in partnership with the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), concluded in Islamabad on April 24, 2024.

Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy Islamabad, Andrew Schofer highlighted the significant contributions of PUAN members to climate-smart businesses and community-driven enterprises, emphasizing their role in Pakistan’s growth and development.

Former Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed reiterated the importance of social entrepreneurship as a catalyst for inclusive development and empowerment.

Fayyaz Yaseen, Executive Director of the Accountability Lab, outlined the conference’s objectives, which aimed to highlight the impact of social entrepreneurship and foster collaboration between business and civic engagement.

The conference, attended by 120-150 mid-senior PUAN alumni and experts from various sectors, sparked discussions and collaborations towards a more socially conscious and economically sustainable Pakistan.

Sahibzada Aamir Khalil, Country President of PUAN, emphasized the conference’s focus on actionable solutions to address barriers hindering the growth of social entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

Activities included panel discussions, guest lectures, outreach visits to government institutions, and the development of action plans for promoting social entrepreneurship.

Chairman Ali Imran, in his closing remarks, stressed the importance of exploring technological innovations and public-private partnerships in achieving tangible outcomes in social entrepreneurship.
