Applications Open: PUAN Economic Policy Challenge

The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), in partnership with the U.S. Mission to Pakistan, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the first-ever PUAN Economic Policy Challenge, a new flagship initiative that brings together talented alumni from across Pakistan to develop practical solutions to some of the country’s most pressing economic policy challenges.

Unlike a traditional conference, the PUAN Economic Policy Challenge is a hands-on, case-based competition where selected participants will work in multidisciplinary teams to analyze real-world policy scenarios, develop actionable recommendations, and present their ideas to a panel of senior Pakistani government and private-sector stakeholders.

Built around the central question, “How can Pakistan build a more competitive, prosperous, and globally integrated economy?”, the two-day program is designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and evidence-based policymaking while drawing upon the diverse expertise of the PUAN community.

Approximately 70 alumni from across Pakistan will be selected through a competitive application process. Participants will be matched to one of ten thematic policy areas based on their professional background and experience. During the Challenge, teams will work under time constraints to develop innovative, practical recommendations that may help inform future discussions on Pakistan’s economic reform priorities.

The U.S. Mission to Pakistan will cover lodging, meals, and eligible travel expenses for selected participants in accordance with the PUAN Travel Policy.

Who Should Apply?

The Economic Policy Challenge is intended for PUAN alumni with demonstrated professional experience in fields such as public policy, economics, business, entrepreneurship, governance, trade, energy, technology, artificial intelligence, communications, taxation, public finance, diaspora engagement, and related sectors.
