On May 11, the Public Diplomacy Section Islamabad hosted a special session under the Freedom 250 Speaker Series featuring U.S. exchange alumnus Dr. Muhammad Waqar Ahmad, a 2023 Professional Fellows Program alumnus. The session, titled “Investing in People: How U.S. Exchanges Build Leaders, Networks, and Impact,” brought together participants interested in leadership development, international collaboration, and the long-term impact of exchange programs.

During the interactive discussion, Dr. Ahmad reflected on how U.S. exchange experiences contribute to professional growth, strengthen cross-cultural understanding, and create networks that continue to generate impact long after the completion of the programs. Drawing from his own journey in diplomacy, strategic communications, and international development, he shared insights on how exchange opportunities equip emerging leaders with practical skills, global exposure, and meaningful professional connections.

Participants actively engaged in the discussion and expressed strong interest in continued U.S. exchange programming and alumni engagement opportunities. Feedback from attendees highlighted the relevance and value of the session, with participants encouraging the continuation of similar speaker series events in the future.
The event reinforced the enduring impact of U.S. exchange initiatives in fostering leadership, professional development, and people-to-people connections. It also highlighted the important role alumni play in strengthening collaborative networks and advancing shared goals across sectors including diplomacy, development, education, and public engagement.
