PUAN Reconnect Explores AI, Innovation, and U.S.-Pakistan Technology Collaboration 

The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy Islamabad and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), organized the second session of the PUAN Reconnect Policy Discussion Series on May 7, 2026, at the USEFP Building in Islamabad. The session brought together 18 PUAN alumni working in AI, technology, entrepreneurship, and cybersecurity alongside startup founders, government representatives, American company officials, and U.S. Embassy representatives for an engaging discussion on Pakistan’s evolving technology ecosystem.

The discussion focused on artificial intelligence, innovation, cybersecurity, startup growth, workforce development, and emerging opportunities for U.S.-Pakistan technology collaboration. U.S. Embassy representatives highlighted growing bilateral engagement in the technology and commercial sectors, while Heidi Smith announced plans for an upcoming Innovation Center at the USEFP Building to support entrepreneurs, innovators, and alumni networking initiatives. Representatives from Oracle Corporation and S&P Global also shared insights on AI trends, collaboration opportunities, and engagement with Pakistani talent.

Participants emphasized Pakistan’s strong potential in AI, software exports, gaming, and startup innovation due to its young and skilled workforce. Discussions also explored responsible AI use, ethical governance, cybersecurity risks, misinformation, data privacy, and AI’s impact on jobs and future skills. The session concluded with networking among alumni, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and U.S. Mission officials, reinforcing the importance of sustained collaboration, innovation, and dialogue in shaping Pakistan’s digital future.
